Learn about Child Care

The University of Utah Child Care Office is here to assist University faculty, staff, and students in their search for quality child care services. We recognize that child care is one of the most important decisions that you will make for your child and for your family. Child care is the fourth greatest expense for most working families, right behind housing, food and taxes. It should be viewed as an investment – an investment in your child!
We have many resources available:
1.	Child Care Info Packet. We'll mail to you a customized packet of child care information that will help you learn about the types of child care, the selection process, and how to make the home to care transition easier for your child. Just complete the Child Care Information Request form.
2.	Check out our website. You'll find a wealth of information: Types of Care Guidelines for selecting quality care Child Care options available on or near the University Printable list of Child Care Centers at or near the University Local market rates Financial support available University sponsored programs which include workshops for parents, Finals Week Child Care, and other special services which make life easier for faculty, staff, and students with children. Educational resources available from the Child Care office for parents and kids such as books, videos, and websites.
3.	Child Care Checklist. We recommend that you make an on-site visit to any provider that you are considering. Use the Child Care Checklist as a guide in this process.

Our resources are available to you at no charge. Please check our website often for new programs and child care information. Contact us with any questions you may have. Please note that the Child Care Coordinating Office cannot recommend or place children in a child care facility. They do not license, endorse, or monitor any caregiver. Only parents are qualified to select the child care situation that is right for their child. Consumer education materials and developmental checklists have been included for your convenience.
